The Bakélite company was founded in Rennes in 2005. Since then, it has enabled Olivier Rannou to bring his artistic inspirations to the stage in theatres across France and beyond. The Bakélite company has become a benchmark for object theatre in France, producing memorable shows in which the atrociously funny rub shoulders with the rigorously insane. It's an art of meticulousness and exacting standards, where imagination combines with practical inventiveness.Playing on symbols and the evocative power of ordinary objects, Bakelite recreates armies from three figurines, packs entire cities into a suitcase, and sets up a bank with a piggy bank.Bakélite's signature is precision in cutting and sequencing, with all the rigour of a writing style based on shots that borrows its dramaturgy from the cinema... and hijacks its codes.
