Some stories appear untouchable, carrying great tension, hidden surfaces, and secret passages. The life of Fredy Hirsch belongs to such stories. It's a story of a man who coached and taught children in inhuman conditions, a Jew in a concentration camp, a story of a homosexual in a totalitarian regime. Fredy emphasized physical fitness, movement, and hygiene. Discipline and regularity were his focus. How can a person maintain self-respect in a totalitarian prison? Perhaps by rehearsing theatrical performances with children? By instilling in them, and in himself, a sense of inviolability, the possibility of play, and transformation?
