Two thousand years old comedy, which on the backdrop of a love story from the times of ancient Rome, makes the very foundations of comedy and theatrical humour present and tested. The young man Romanticus loves the girl Errotium, but she is kept in his house by the lecherous pimp Pornothecus, who wants to sell her to a self-satisfied soldier named Gaius Omnibus Paco. However, aided by his simple-minded slave Sophisticus and the greedy freeloader Weevil, the young man eventually wins the girl of his heart as his wife through Weevil' schemes, and Paco finds his lost sister in her.
